I watched Shaurya y’day. Having watched A Few Good Men, I wasn’t expecting anything but a decent copy but it failed at that too. Some pointers:

- Shaurya could’ve been titled Shit… and nobody would’ve even noticed much rather complain.
- KK’s performance was commendable but the way his character was portrayed as a bigoted zealot only reconfirms the lack of imagination of the movie makers.
- Rahul Bose is a clown who can put up a fill-in performance at best but can’t carry on a full length show and he seems to be the only person to be unaware of it.
- Adnan Sami should stick to singing and not direct music.
- Kashmir is as beautiful as it ever was.

Watching reruns of Jaan Pehchaan Ho never tires me. Anyone. I wonder what Buddy Holly and the Crickets would’ve thought about the song. No one would believe me if I told that this song was sung by the same person who sang Chaudhvin ka Chand. We hit upon an idea last evening while rewatching the video. It’s a bit far fetched but just might work out, who knows?

Have a lot of reading to do. The stack of unreads has been going up steadily. I might have to take a few days off from work if things go like this. I can’t bear to look at the unread pile, the covers looking at me with pleading eyes that also convey scorn, hope, despair, pity and the injured look that only an abandoned child has in store for its parents. I wonder if I spend all my days reading, how am I going to ever write anything? I remember RKN saying once that one shouldn’t read much if one plans on writing. It inevitably influences the individualistic writing style. But then, he was a writer which I am not.

A book has to be covered. An uncovered book is as indecent as a naked human. Almost. It’s disgraceful, inhuman and unbookly.

    “one shouldn’t read much if one plans on writing. It inevitably influences the individualistic writing style”
    RKN was so spot on.

    What do you mean by “a book should be covered” - that it should have a dust jacket, or a blanket, or something else entirely?

    @Jinx:
    I’d covered one of your’s too if I remember correctly.

    @Abhinav:
    Yeah.

    @Kalafudra:
    It’s just a plain paper cover… kind of a dust jacket. C’mon, it’s a common book cover.

    I see… I think that’s quite normal.
    I got all my books wrapped in self adhesive foil. Although those things are transparent, so probably still indecent. :)
