If it was heart breaking to see Chelsea bow out of the Champions League on Tuesday, the moving of AC Milan into the finals at Man U’s expense at least brought some relief. But I doubt if the relief is going to be long lasting for all I know, the final could a repeat of that (in)famous final of 2005. I earnestly want AC Milan to win this time. I nearly cried after they lost to Liverpool after leading 3-0 in the first half back then.
Yesterday’s match couldn’t have gone better for Milan. Playing in front of the home crowd, they seemed nearly invincible. Despite the absence of Maldini (out due to an injury), the defence did really well. Never did one feel the absence of Maldini. And Gattuso! He really is something.

He dived, kicked, pleaded, cried, angered, complained, everything in a single game. And poor Ronaldo couldn’t shake him though he sure tried his best too. Gattuso hardly gave him breathing space. And back in the squad, he picked up a yellow card soon. And rightfully was substituted. Shall we call him Gattuso, the Gladiator?
And Kaka was as usual, simply brilliant. If he had scored that goal in which he almost single handedly ran down the length of the field with the ball just to kick it right into Van Der Saar, it would have been awesome! And Seedorf’s goal was quite deftly executed too. The balance that he displayed after nearly being swept off his feet was marvellous. He’s getting all the better as he’s growing older.
Kaka, I noticed when he was substituted that he had run nearly 10 kms on the field. Should he switch over to athletics. I’m sure he’ll shine there too. And with his looks, he may even become a model. Let’s see what he’s going to do in the final. Kaka, the Konqueror!
And Dida was good. He nearly always grabbed the ball right up in the air before anyone could even touch it. And though Van Der Saar was good, he didn’t quite enjoy the same backup from his defenders as did Dida.
Man U forwards never really seemed threatening except perhaps in the final stages of the game. And by then it was too late. The rain and the people and the stage was simply mind blowing! I wish such a match would happen again.

Waiting impatiently for the final now!
I mourn for Chelsea but pray for Milan.
