Bayern Munich have indeed come a long way, a long long way from the force they had once been. And Oliver Kahn looks really old on the field. I was amazed to see him way below his stretching prowess when Seedorf shot the ball past him into the net. A footballer of his reputation and experience needn’t be told to stretch fully in order to increase the chances of stopping the ball. And did he seem a bit too slow in his movements? Boy! He should retire gracefully while he still can and get a life for a change. Life on the football field is no longer what he needs now.

Bayern Munich were done in by some shoddy play early on and bad luck later on. But one would’ve expected better play from the team. They resembled a bunch of school boys running aimlessly, much the same way we used to play when in school. Were they yet to recover from the nail biting match earlier? But at least, much was on display in the last match. In this match, there was nothing. They were just a shadow of their former selves.

Milan on the other hand deserved the victory they earned. To their credit, they ran hard. Oh, you should have seen the way they were running all across the field. And they were all over the Bayern strikers. With little room to spare, the shaky Bayern strikers looked lost. The Rossoneri played like men possessed.

And Seedorf was brilliant in the way he scored the goals. No, this is not wrong. Inzaghi might have scored the second goal officially, but for me, it was scored by Seedorf. The light deceptive touch baffled everyone of the defenders. And Inzaghi was quick enough to outrun the lethargic Kahn and hit the ball over his head into the net. Seedorf sure was instrumental in giving Inzaghi his 2nd goal of the tournament. He certainly was the star of the match.

And Bayern never really recovered after those two goals and the match though was eventful in the second half, was scoreless. The silence in the stadium was deafening. Certainly, people hadn’t paid to see the home team lose. Time to do some serious thinking for the Munichers.
